Lygaeidae

Pronunciation:  [Lie·GEE·i·dae]

Common Name:  Seed Bugs

Description:  As their common name implies, most members of this family feed on seeds.   They can be distinguished from plant bugs (Miridae) by the presence of ocelli, and from squash bugs (Coreidae) by the presence of only four or five strong veins in the membrane of the front wings.
