Common Name:   Soldier Beetles

Description:  Active diurnal insects found on flowers and foliage of their host plants.   They have soft elytra and parallel-sided bodies.   Adults feed on nectar and pollen; larvae are predaceous.

  1. Hind tarsi with 5 segments
  2. Parallel-sided body
  3. Soft and somewhat flattened elytra
  4. Threadlike antennae
  5. Often black with red or yellow markings
