Common Name: Sap Beetles
Description: Most sap beetles are small (2-6 mm in length) and oval or elongate oval in shape. Their antennae are knobbed or clubbed. Some species have short elytra, but fewer than four abdominal tergites are exposed. Tarsi may be four- or five-segmented. In those with five segments, the fourth segment is very small and bead-like. Most sap beetles feed on decaying vegetable matter.
