Pronunciation: [TINGE·i·dae]
Common Name: Lace Bugs
Description: Lace bugs are gregarious and phytophagous. They usually feed on the underside of leaves. Many species produce honeydew and are tended by ants. The lacy pattern of sculpturing is distinctive of adults in this family. Nymphs are strikingly different in appearance – usually dark in color with dorsal spines. Most species have a very narrow host plant range which simplifies species identification.
