Common Name:    Spear-winged Flies

Description:  This family of small, slender flies has wings that are somewhat pointed at the tip and lack crossveins except near the very base.  Adults are yellowish or brownish in color and usually found in moist, grassy habitats.   The larvae feed on decaying vegetation.
