Common Name:  Sweat Bees

Description:  Sweat bees can be different colors but most often stand out when they are metallic. They are unique to the Hymenoptera with a curved basal vein and two or three submarginal cells in the forewing. They are solitary in nature and nest in the ground or feed on pollen.

  1. Body often metallic in color
  2. Three submarginal cells in front wing
  3. Basal vein in front wing strongly arched (curved)
